Basics Of Knitting, Cast On, Knit Stitch, and Cast Off (YouTube Video)

Spread the love

There are so many videos to show you the basics of knitting. I will admit I do not cast on like they show in this video but after seeing it I just might do it that way.   If you do not like they way she does it you can search online for other ways to do it.

Knitting is basically 2 stitches, Knit and Purl.  Patterns for knitting are just how you use those two stitches.

I think knitting is harder than crocheting, mainly because it is harder (if not impossible) to correct mistakes. Especially if you do not notice it until you are rows past it.    She shows you how to save a dropped stitch which will come in handy.

You might be intimidated by knitting when you see some of the patterns and needles used.  There are straight needles, circular needles, and double pointed. They can be made from metal, plastic, or wood.   Do not try to do a complicated pattern until you are ready. It took me a long time to try anything to fancy. Dishcloths with cotton yarn is a good project to start with.

Your yarn tension is key to a nice looking project, if you have a loose or tight stitch it will show and if you like me it will be the only thing you see when your project s finished.

Practice, practice, practice, etc….
