My the mother of my nephew’s son shared something like this on Facebook and said she would like one for Troy. Of course me being me said “I would make one”. However after looking at the one she saw I thought the stitch was to feminine and I did not like the way the hood looked either so I started a search for something better for a boy. It took me a while to find what I wanted to do but I figured I had some time since it was still warm out. I told myself I had until fall to finish.
This is what I used to make the cap part, Batman Mask, however I did not put cardboard in the ears. It is going to be washed so cardboard wouldn’t work, I thought about plastic but didn’t want it to melt when dried. I just used the tails to weave through the ears adding to the stiffness of them. I washed it a few times and they still stand up. I am going to tell Troy’s mom to use spray starch after washing if they won’t stay up but I doubt she will have too. I also added rows of SC to the back to make the part that connects to the cape.
So my son is almost 7, the boy its for just turned 3. I went the size above 3 so he could wear it for a while. Its so small for my head but tight on my son so hoping it fits Troy ok. I wanted the cape part to be long enough for him to wrap himself up with it. I think he will be able to, it’s 30 something inches from top of cape to bottom.
I don’t know if I would want to do this kind of project as a paid project because its a pain and I am not sure about the fit. I would hate to send it away to a paying customer and have them not like it. This is the first time I have made something like this.
Now to get it sent……
